Late Blogpost 2

Semi-recently I had attempted to enter a contest to be an accessory creator. The task was to create two accessories that took up two different slots such as Hat, Face, Front, Waist etc.. It's an event that only comes around a now and then and they have a lot of people who try to enter, and it's something I was highly interested in so I decided to throw my hat into the ring. The two ideas I personally came up with was a Earth themed top hat and cracked mask with a scary looking face. I immediately went to work when I saw the event came around and started grabbing my pictures to put my idea together. Overall I feel they turned out pretty well, I think I could have fooled around with the mask idea some more and create something better but it turned out alright. I had received an email a good while later informing me that I did not get picked, they mentioned nothing about the models, but the lack of creating a portfolio on their website and things related to that. I plan to take extra carful steps next time it rolls around and see if I can challenge myself to creating some things that are even better and hopefully get accepted in

A recent personal project I've been working on has been creating a custom character. A personal friend decided one day to create a little character I could use as a profile picture and ever since he made it, has expanded on it and has become my little own personification of my online self. Since I liked it so much and used it a lot I decided to attempt to make a 3D version in blender. So I asked him to draw a sketched up version of him from the front, back and sides and started to work on him. While it has had it's ups and downs, so far has turned out pretty well. The main thing I left off on was the clothing, I had attempted to start it but scrapped it a few times just because it wasn't working out well. Since I had also barely ever attempted to do hair it let me try that again and it turned out not so bad this time, could still use some improvement, but overall not bad. I want to continue working on this and see if I can actually get a finish product with not such a high triangle mesh count so I can use it in other personal projects.

The hands were a huge pain and after trying a step by step process through a tutorial it turned out pretty well.

Senior End of MP 2 Blog Post

  Intention Definition & Exploration Ideas

Throughout this marking period I have been mainly been doing two things which have been making sets for CVTV and working on little models for a game I have been working on with friends. There has not really been a theme that I have been working with but just creating things that related to either CVTV or the game, not really any personal work.

Planning

The way that planning has gone throughout this marking period is that either Mr. Bomboy would let me know of an upcoming set that needed to be done or I would refer to my friends on what they needed me to make. Besides that there wasn't really anything I had plan to work on my own or something like that.

Producing

For this marking period this is what I have done so far, a few objects and a few sets. Each set for CVTV is themed around either a holiday or some special events so that it can be used again in the future instead of creating something every year. Even though this is what I have so far, there are still more to come with more upcoming holidays such as Valentines day and Easter.

Evaluating

Over this marking period I felt I did pretty good on creating these sets and liked how they turned out in the end. Sometimes it can be a bit tough coming up for ideas on what to put in these sets, but otherwise I should like how upcoming sets turn out if I can brainstorm some good ideas. With the little objects, they turned out well enough, but I want to practice some more in making them. Items like the bag was something I was cornered about thinking about making since it was made in a kind of different way. Overall though there is always more room for improvement.

Integrating

As I work more in creating things from a base cube I understand more of how some things should be made. Such as I was working on a bike model and as I was working I was wondering on how they actually work, since it needed to be animated once it was done so it had to have all the parts a bike should have, such as how the wheels move around the poles they are connected to. I find it neat when I'm working on stuff like that, since it really gets me thinking on how an object is really supposed to look.

Blog Post 11/30 - 12-6

Over the course of this week I was tasked with making the holiday set for use in December. Similar to the other sets I enjoyed working on it but I would say I spent the most time working on this one. I like how it turned out and I attempted to pay carful attention this time to how it will appear with the anchors and pictures in view as well, so hopefully there won't be a lot of things that will not be in view. I thought about a few ways I could have made the tree, I could have made it more realistic or cartoony, and I decided it may fit better with everything with more of a cartoony look. Overall I feel it turned out well and hopefully I can do as well with the future sets I work on.

Blog Post 11/9-11/15

Over the course of this week I had worked on a new set for Thanksgiving for CVTV. Just like the previous ones it was nice to work and I think its end result turned out alright. I had a bit of similar problem with the patriotic set when I worked on this as what I should fill the set with. Obviously you immediately think of turkeys and leaves but I had to make everything so I tried to think of things I could make within my skillset that didn't look horrible. The gourd wasn't that hard as it was just a variant of the pumpkin just tweaked to look different, but for something like a turkey I had to think how I was going to do it. I obviously wasn't going to attempt make a realistic animal but something like a decoration that you would stick outside so that's where I got his little simplistic design. Overall it wasn't bad but I feel it maybe could have turned out a bit better, hopefully I can do a lot better with the Christmas one.

Blog Post 10/26 - 11/1

Over the course of this week I was tasked with working on another set for the Cumberland Valley morning show with the theme on Patriotic. Now I really didn't know how to make this one besides putting an American flag in it. It was a bit harder to come up with ideas compared to the Halloween mainly because there's a lot you can think of when you think of Halloween, such as pumpkins, ghost etc. As I did some research on some decorations that some people use on American holidays like 4th Of July I slowly came up with some ideas and things to create to fill the studio with things like the banners and the colored stars. Overall just like the Halloween set this was also fun to work on and definitely want to do more for other upcoming holidays that we may not have sets for or just want another design of one.

Blog Post 10/19-10/25

Over the course of this I had spent some time working on two objects. While that may not seem like much what was tough about them was their complex shapes, especially the bag. I personally love creating little objects and these two things were fun to make and I like how they turned out. The second object needs some final touches but overall its got the idea. The bag was the tougher one out of these two since it had a lot of different things going on. When I create objects like these I have to shape them from a cube so trying to give it that bag look was a bit tough. After shaping it though I attempted to add the detail of that top flap on the top of the bag and it was a bit rough but I feel it looks nice in the end. The mouth was the other toughest part since if I wasn't carful there would be a bunch of mesh problems of faces stacking on top of each other but I eventually got it. Even though it looks like it can open I had to make a separate open version just because I couldn't really process how it could open without it breaking or looking very off. The gun on the other hand was a different challenge, I had to extrude a circle and just pull the sides of it until it took the shape of what it was actually supposed to look like. I need some finishing touches such as the handle but other than that it's got everything it needs. Overall I think I may attempt to make some more objects in the fantasy category as I thoroughly do enjoy creating them and love how they look in the end.
