Pendulum Animation Reflection
Overall on this project I thought I had a great idea I could have put together but I seemed to not have worked on it as much as I should have. Compared to others I thought it did alright but something I would like to change was the camera movement. The movement was too fast and didn't let you see the surroundings and such, it was a bit too rushed. Besides the camera there some more ideas I thought I could add and if I put more effort into it thought it could have to turned out better. Throughout this project I was able to put multiple things I learned from last year to use to me here and really refresh on some subjects. I think I could put more ideas to use and really focus on camera movements and make them smooth instead of all fast and jagged. In the end I felt like this project could have turned out way better if I went with some other ideas and implemented some other things and just really but my abilities to their best use and really come up with some more creative ideas.

Pendulum Animations
Design principles and camera movements are very important in modern media. These are used to convey emotions and ideas. In my second animation I used different camera movements to portray someone entering a store. Also in both of these animations I used a emphasis design principle to give the pocket watch the spotlight of these animations. These two things are crucial to media and will be used in all of it,

Design Principle Ideas
Part
1
Part
2
I decided to choose the first picture of part 1. I felt it gave the pendulum emphasis while also giving it a interesting background with other ideas like repetition. I will be making a glass display counter with some other watches inside it with a sign in the back. With some repetition of vertical lines on the wall. I will then use make those rectangular ceiling lights to light up the entire area.

Camera Movement Meanings
Camera movements have a big impact to films they can portray and enforce many things depending on what you are trying to do. They can range from zooming in or out to portray emphasis or they may use a certain angle to show power or lack their of. Here are a few of movements and how they may contribute.
Crane Down: This shot can be used as a way of introducing a viewer to the scene or character or it can portray the size of an object or show just how small a person may be to such and object.
Crane High to Low: Similar to crane down except this shot is used to emphasize a character to show authority and fear
Handheld Camera:This type of shot is used to convey danger or fear. Some may even this type of shot a lot especially if they have a type of crewman character. The fact that the camera is shaking is what changes things up since throughout the movie a camera usually is in a still manner.
Quick Pan: A quick pan can be used to show a quick change in emotion. Such as revealing a unexpected character that seemed to pop out of nowhere.
Quick Push In: This camera action also conveys fear or shock by quickly zooming into the characters face.
Slow Dolly In: This shot can create tension or try and show us how the character is feeling at the moment.
Slow Dolly Out: Like the dolly in except instead of tension it can make the viewer feel the character as isolated and empathy.
Dolly Across: This shot can reveal a change of emotion depending on what the emphasis is being shown as.
Glidecam Camera: This shot can create a idea that the action at hand is important and/or epic. If you were to do the same thing with a handheld camera it may seem like a more edgy or dangerous event.
Glidecam 360 Reveal: This type of shot can convey an upcoming problem, something big ahead of the characters that they are getting prepared to face about ready to head into.
Zolly: A zolly is a zoom mixed with a dolly, using this can make a background get bigger or smaller while leaving the character the same size to really convey importance, giving a emotional feeling.

Timing Spacing Reel
Timing and Spacing are the most crucial thing in animation. They are what give the illusion of movement. Without the use of this we would not have any sort of animation to watch. In the early beginnings of animation they would use spacing and timing to create lifelike animations. They would use timing compared to the spacing so they would move and such. In the early days of animation they would space the pictures apart and use timing to make in much in a lifelike manner. Without this it would not look correct or even work in the first place. These two things are the very being of animation.

Early Animation History
Early Animation
The early days of animation were the building blocks for what we have now. They are how we are able to do such things today from 2D to 3D animations. Someone who greatly helped this development was Winsor McCay. He was one of the people to really kick start animation throughout the 90's. He made works such as Little Nemo, The Sinking of Lusitania and Gertie the Dinosaur.
Gertie the Dinosaur was also the first key frame animation to be made. People were astounded by it and were amazed to see him interact with this animated dinosaur. Besides McCay's key frame animation another man named Stuart Blackton (who was a film producer) decided to try another new type of animation at the time. With his background in film he used this knowledge to produce a film that was stop motion. It was a film that consisted of multiple frames that different a tiny bit from the previous one. With these frames when you played them in order the drawing would seem to move. He used this technique to create a short film called Humorous Phases of Funny Faces. This would be one of the first drawn stop motioned films. With these new ideas of entertainment animations seem like the future of entertainment.
During this rising popularity of animation a man by the name of Walt Disney decided to join the animation idea. They decided to take this a step further with their cartoon Steamboat Willie. This cartoon became the first one to ever have synchronized sounds along the cartoon itself. It was a big success to say the least with the some characters in this cartoon still even being used today. However McCay saw this type of animation as a insult. He tried to show that animation should be more serious and not be like how Disney was portraying it. You can see this in his work such as The Sinking of the Lusitania, where it's supposed to portray the event of the Germans sinking their boat. Well in the end these early animations are really where it started to grow and flourish, it's where animation really started to take shape into what it is today. These events are pretty important and I can't even think how it would have turned out if none of these events happened in the first place.
